Penerapan Metode Reka Cerita Gambar untuk Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berbicara Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Abstrak

This study was motivated by the low speaking skills of students, as indicated by their unsatisfactory speaking performance in the Indonesian language subject. The study aimed to describe the implementation of the Picture Story Reconstruction Method in improving the speaking skills of elementary school students. This research employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design at second-grade students at MI Riadhussholihin Thohir Yasin during the 2024/2025 academic year. The focus of the study was the students' speaking skills and the implementation of the teaching and learning process. The research instruments included observation and speaking tests. Observations were conducted throughout the teaching and learning activities. The collected data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Picture Story Reconstruction Method effectively improved students' speaking skills in the Indonesian language subject for second-grade students at MI Riadhussholihin Thohir Yasin in the 2024/2025 academic year. This was evidenced by the students' speaking skill achievement before the intervention, which was only 44%, categorized as very low. After the implementation of Cycle I, the percentage increased to 58.3%, categorized as low. Following revisions and improvements in Cycle II, the achievement further increased to 88.9%, indicating an improvement of 30.6 percentage points from Cycle I to Cycle II. The observation sheets also demonstrated improvements in both teacher and student activities. In Cycle I, the teacher's activity obtained an average score of 71% (good), while the students' activity averaged 64% (low). After improvements were made in Cycle II, the teacher's activity increased to an average of 87.8% (very good), and the students' activity reached an average of 82% (good). These results indicate that the predetermined success indicators were successfully achieved.
